Pinto Carpentry's Community Calendar for Union and Middlesex County NJ October 2022

We’re back with another Pinto Carpentry Community Calendar with local community events for individuals and families. This October edition features plenty of fall favorites like pumpkins and haunted houses! Check it out:

Wednesday October 5th via Zoom, join the FACT Support Group for LGBTQI+ Youth from 6PM to 7PM for a virtual meetup for teenagers 13-19 years old. Kids can connect with peers to get community support as well as build lasting friendships with peers. Group reconvenes again on October 12th and 19th and November 2nd as well!


Friday Ocober 7th is the “Friday Night Lights” Event with Saint Joseph’s Homecoming Football game starting at 5PM. The team will be playing ahome night football game for the first time ever in team history! They’ll be competing against Edison High School Football. Families are necouraged to gather for a pre-game tailgate event with lots of fun festivities! And follow up at the Falcon Fall Fest on SAturday the 8th at 10AM


On Friday October 7th in Mountainside NJ is the Hayrides & Campfires Fall Family Fun Series with Union County Partks System! Event starts at 10:30AM.


Saturday October 8th from 11AM to 3Pm, families can head over to Library Park in Plainfield for Fire Prevention Week FAir sponsored by the NFPA. This free event for families includes a real fire truck, live demonstrations, games, popcorn, snacks and more!


Saturday October 8th at the Patricia M. Kuran Cultural Arts Center in Fanwood from 7PM to 9:30 PM you can enjoy an evening of Live Music with Andrew Delaeney and Kate Klim. Donations are suggested for admission, with cash at the door and light refreshments available for purchase.


Sunday October 9th in Elmwood at the Elmwood Park Financial Center it’s Pet Adoption Day! From 11AM to 3PM, families and individuals can come meet the adoptable pets from Eleventh Hour Rescue and have an opportunity to adopt or foster their new furry best friends. Snacks, Food, Drinks and giveaways for attendees!


On Tuesday October 11th at the North Plainfield branch of the Somerset County Library System, families can come out for Stories and Songs/Cuentos y Canciones for playtime, storytime, and a singalong from 10:30AM to 11:15AM.


On Thursday October 13th from 4Pm to 5PM, kids will enjoy the Garden Tales Kids Class at Van Vleck House and Gardens! Each class will read a storybook and then enjoy a related planting, harvesting, and journaling about nature.


On Thursday October 13th, enjoy a history and art experience from the comfort of your own home with “A Photographic Journey Through Union County History” with Nancy J. Ori and Plainfield Public Library from 7PM to 8:30PM.

On Sunday October 16th from 11AM to 3PM at the Reeves-Reed Arboretum in Summit is the “Fall Festival Goat Garden Family Event at the Arboretum. There will be games, crafts, music, and…of course goats!



From Thursday October 20th through Saturday the 22nd, and again on the 27th through 29th, the duCret School of Art in Plainfield is hosting the Catalyst Theater Company: Saucy Jack and the Space Vixens performance.

Friday October 21st and Saturday October 22nd at Lincoln Avenue School in Cranford, families can come out for some Halloween fun at the Family-Friendly Scairy Tales Haunted house event sponsored by the Lincoln Avenue School PTA.



On Saturday October 29th, it’s Pumpkin Patch Day at the Liberty Hall Museum in Union! Family pumpkin patch day has been a local community tradition for families of Union County for years, so don’t miss out!
