Summer 2022 Design Home Trends to Match The Design of Your New Stairs and Railings

Updated: Aug 15, 2022

Once you’ve had your new staircase installed and railings updated, you’ll of course want to put the finishing touches on interior design that matches your new look. Today on the Pinto Carpentry blog, we’re exploring different ways to style your home with a plethora of affordable and DIY updates that won’t break the bank!

Let’s check out the latest interior trends for Summer 2022 and give your home a fresh new vibe and create your own private oasis. This summer we’re seeing an uptick in design trends that feature tropical aesthetics, vibrant fruit-inspired color palettes, botanical accents, houseplants, and indoor florals, rounded edge elements, natural fibers, and textures, eco-friendly and sustainable wood elements, and lacquered reflective surfaces.

Whether you’re a minimalist or a maximalist or somewhere in between, it’s easy to change the entire look and feel of a room with a few key statement pieces! Swapping out a focal piece doesn’t require a major overhaul or structural changes, but it can easily add a lot of character and mood in the blink of an eye. Let’s look at some ideas.

We’re seeing big design trends in Statement and Focal Objects, Sensory and Mood Lighting, Boho-Chic Aesthetic, and Sustainable and Reclaimed Items.

The Leo Table Lamp comes as a set of two, and is available in a bright, bold variety of tropical colors to add a punch of color to any setting. Available from Lamps Plus retailer. Accent lamps or floor lamps are a great way to jazz up the space and add more light without fiddling with complicated ceiling fixtures.

Wall Mirrors are a great way to add additional light to a space by positioning across from a light source to reflect into other areas of the room. We love the Roma Wavy Wall Mirror at Urban Outfitters, this Irregular Mirror from uniqWatercolorStiq on Etsy, and the Raquel Modern & Contemporary Accent Mirror from Hashtag home.

Macrame Wall Hangings and Wall Rugs, Art prints, and 3D wall hangings can add a touch of texture and color to neutral walls without having to repaint! You can even freshen up your current wall color by adding a contrasting color palette and playing with patterns. We really love this Large Macrame Dip Dye Wall Hanging and this Modern Boho Macrame Wall Hanging, both from Etsy Seller CALMSOULdecor, and the gorgeous Green Leaves Macrame wall hanging by BeanDaikon on Etsy!

This gorgeous Palm Tree Tapestry Wall Hanging from Fine Art Tapestries is available at Wildlife Wonders and is a gorgeous accent for any room. It adds a tropical, summery feel and makes a great compliment to your house plant collection! Adding some natural texture via rich, warm woods like the carved Hibiscus Flower Wall Art from RayanaDecor on Etsy can instantly add a cozy, inviting feeling to any environment. And this gorgeous woven wall basket or tabletop bowl from Mrocloa on Amazon.

Utilizing glass and ceramic accents with glossy surfaces, bold colors, and interesting shapes and textures will add some interest to coffee tables, side tables, entertainment consoles, and entryways. Some of our favorites include the Tropical Birds Decorative Stool from Pier 1, Sullivans Ceramic Vase Set of 3 on Amazon, Two’s Company Tropical Parrot Sculptures from Decor Market, Abbott Collections Flamingo Pink Vase at Walmart, The Jowett Pink Ceramic Table Vase via Bay Isle Home, blown glass Pineapple Centerpieces from Artful Home, a Crown Chakra Frosted Quartz Singing Bowl from SunshineCraftArtWork on Etsy, Glass Bubble Vases from VivianhandmadeShopUS on Etsy, and 3D Bubble Planters from LAYERSPACE on Etsy.

Sustainable and reclaimed wood elements can add a natural look and accent to any room, and when paired with the above-lacquered textures of ceramics or rounded reflective mirrors it can instantly pump up the visual interest of any room. As an added bonus, some of these tables can be used inside or outside, meaning you can freshen up your outdoor space by continuing your interior look or using them indoors for a chic boho look. We love the Drakes Bay Solid Acacia Outdoor Accent Table from CB2, the Anillo Travertine Outdoor Side Table, and the Rocco End Table from ALLMODERN.

And last but not least here are some fantastic houseplants to add a touch of greenery and a pop of colour to create an indoor jungle and bring the tropics to your home year-round. We love the Crissie Birds Nest Wall Mounted Fern and Trailing Neon Pothos both from BelleDecorPlants on Etsy, The Persian Violet Cyclamen Purple/Magenta from Hirts Gardens, and the Syngonium Podyphyllum Pink Neon Robusta from PetrichorBotanical on Etsy.
