Spring has sprung and we’re just itching to get outside and enjoy the fresh air in our incredible gardens ( and we’re also itching from pollen, but it’s worth the sunshine if you ask us.)  On today’s blog, we’re sharing our picks for great gardening projects you can make with your own two hands (and some power tools, lumber, and scrap of course).

Whether you’re planting herbs, flowers, or fruit, you’ll have a blast with these fun woodworking project ideas and construction projects for your home or community garden!  Most of these can be made for under $100-$150, too! And stick around for the end, because we’re also sharing a roundup of NJ Community Garden plots, if you don’t have a yard or large enough space to do some gardening.

Pinto Carpentry’s Roundup of 16 Great Garden Carpentry Projects under $150!

First up, Garden Benches: What good is a garden to admire without a place to sit?

There are some truly lovely garden benches out there from designer houseware companies and furniture makers, but they’re definitely not very budget friendly.  We’ve chosen some great DIY plans for beginner woodworking benches on today’s garden project roundup.

We love the Slatted Wooden Bench by TheSorryGirls.com.  With less than $100 in materials, and just a few basic tools like a drill and sandpaper and a carpenter’s square, you can make a stunning bench and enjoy a trendy seat in your garden (with proper outdoor finish stains!)

This inexpensive outdoor bench design via imgur.com that can double as a plant table if you need extra space for your pots! Clocking in at under $100 for most materials, this one is also trendy in style and quite fresh.

Rogue Engineer has a different type of outdoor bench, this time with a back support, for a budget friendly price under $75 in materials. It’s a more traditional park bench styling.

Family Handyman has a beginner timber bench for outdoor use that clocks in under $150. This one is great for a more rustic look and natural outdoor vibes.  They also have this classic adirondack chair and loveseat that’s another great option for seating.

Next up, tables: Everyone needs a place to put their coffee and sweet tea!

What good is a garden bench to sit upon, without a handy table to place your things?  This roundup of projects includes easy, budget friendly table projects to choose from.

We love this charming little stone-top patio table from The Family Handyman. It’s easy to customize and paint or stain to your preferences, and budget wise comes in $50-$150 depending on materials selected.

Whether you’re using this on your porch, patio, or even in your dining room, this rustic-sweet farmhouse table from Family-Style Schooling is a great option!  Perfect for making memories around with the family on summer evenings.  The project is estimated at under $100, but can go higher depending on materials used.

Another entry to the group-gathering table collection, this farmhouse style table by Twin Civet seats 6 and clocks in under $100 depending on materials selected. Can be used indoors or outdoors if you select the right finishing varnish!

Furniture with scalloped edges is all the rage nowadays, and we love these plans from Kreg for an end table.  Perfect for potted plants and lanterns in your garden, this charming end table would make a moderately challenging carpentry project for the more experienced person. Under $100 on basic supplies.

Let’s try, planters: Whimsical and creative garden planters to bring your cottage core dreams to life!

For those who wish to keep their greens safe from critters (rabbits and groundhogs, we’re lookin’ at you…) this raised patio planter with legs and storage is perfect!  Family Handyman offers this planter project to be estimated at $150 or under for the whole thing.

The DIY Vertical Herb Garden planter by MakingJoyandPrettyThings.com is a clever entry to this list. It’s a very aesthetic and beautiful project that can fit about any decor style depending on finish choices and lumber.

These planter boxes are simple and understated yet classic!  We love a project that lets the foliage shine as the major star, like these plans from ana-white.

Instructables has this lovely modern, farmhouse style raised planter box from cedar!  They’re a great option for reducing bugs and pests on your patio too thanks to the lumber choice.

Now it’s time for whimsy: Birdhouses, creative projects, and decorations for the garden.

Wilkerdos is offering these free step by step birdhouse tutorials! They’d make a great gift idea for your loved ones. Perfect for using up leftover scrap wood from larger projects.

These DIY Mini Greenhouse boxes from Twelve On Main are a genius way of using up scrap lumber and adding whimsy and farmhouse/cottage vibes to your garden. They can also extend your gardening season into the cooler weather. So who could be mad about that?

We love a practical, useful garden project that also has a bit of whimsy and fun to it! Look no further than this super-sized cartoon but practical rugged garden cart from Family Handyman.  Brilliant opportunity to add some charm and character with painting fun designs and colors!
